Bear Construction Company was contracted by Hines to build out the Northwestern University Medill School of Journalism at 303 E Wacker, Chicago. Gensler calls the 17,000 sq. ft. space “the next generation of learning spaces.” An open concept with heavily technology-enabled multi-functional classrooms, a state of the art broadcast studio and café comprise the new student facility.

222 S. RIVERSIDE
JLL hired Bear Construction Company to build the Active Campaign tenant space at 222 S. Riverside in Chicago. The 10,000 ?SF space features an open ceiling, polished concrete floors and stikwood walls which creates an alfresco environment.?The space was designed by Hydzik Schade Associates and the mechanical engineer was Kent Consulting Engineers.?Sr. Project Manager Jim Hopkins, Assistant Project Manager Scott Hopkins and Superintendent Rudy Campanotto managed the project for Bear.
Presence Health engaged Bear Construction Company to remodel their 26,500 sq.ft. Diamond Headache unit at St, Joseph’s Hospital in Chicago. During construction?temporary roof top units were used to maintain service in each patient room until new air handlers were installed.

Hines engaged Bear Construction Company to build out 11,300 sq. ft. of building amenities on the second floor of 303 E. Wacker, Chicago. Reclaimed wood panels from Route 66 trucks were installed as bench seating. Ameba pendant light fixtures and LED pocket light fixtures provided extraordinary illumination to the conference center and open, concept lounge designed by EWP Architects.? Project Executive Ben Miles and Superintendent Dan Miles managed the project for Bear.

LEUKEMIA & LYMPHOMA MAN OF THE YEAR AWARD
Scott Kurinsky, EVP of Bear Construction Company, is a candidate for the 2016 LEUKEMIA & LYMPHOMA MAN OF THE YEAR award.? His goal is to raise money to help in the fight against blood cancers, and to help those dealing with the disease live as close to their normal lives as possible.? Each dollar donated counts as one vote, and the man of the year with the most votes will secure the coveted title.? But the real victory is raising dollars in the fight against cancer. ST. BALDRICK’S FOUNDATION
Spearheaded by Team Mom and Bear Construction Company Administrator Sue Rhodes, the Rhodes Boys raised $1840 this year by shaving their heads to raise money for the St. Baldrick’s Foundation which funds childhood cancer research. ?This was the 8th year the Rhodes Boys have gone bald.? Grandson Andrew was a rookie this year and Kyle is a cancer survivor thanks in part to the impact St. Baldrick’s has made on its fight against childhood cancer! Donations to the foundation are always appreciated. ? ?
IRISH AMERICAN HERITAGE
Bear Construction Company Co-Hosted the March, 399 Chief Building Engineer’s meeting at the Irish American Heritage Center, Chicago.? Project Coordinator Christina Hale and Account Executive Bill Ziemek Jr. manned the give-a-way table and occasionally tested the Guinness to be sure it was the correct temperature for consumption.
John Simko has joined Bear as General Counsel to handle contract review and legal compliance.?John has been a member of the BAR since 1976.
